Video and on-demand

Live video and the on-demand library: what to send and how it shows

Your event page has a main video player at the top and, below it, rows of recordings and resources attendees can open any time. This guide explains how both work, which live tools we offer and what we need from you. We build and switch everything with you. To see a live example, open demo.jumbo.live.

How video shows on an event page

The player at the top of an event page is called the hero. It has three states, and attendees only ever see one at a time. We prepare all three before your event, then switch them on event day.

State 1

Upcoming

Before the event, the hero shows a welcome message, a background image or video, and a button that can point to a resource or a welcome clip.

We write it with you and publish it with the page

State 2

Live

While the event is on, attendees see a live badge, the video player and your session title. The viewer count can be shown or hidden.

We switch to live when you tell us you are ready

State 3

Archived

After the event, or between live sessions, a watch button leads to replays and on-demand content, and views keep being counted.

We switch to archived when the live part ends

A short delay is normal. After we switch states, attendees' pages refresh on their own. It usually takes between 5 and 15 seconds.

Choosing a live source

We offer three tools for live video: Vimeo, YouTube and Zoom. Pick the one your production team already knows. If you aren't sure, ask us and we will help you choose.

Vimeo

Broadcast

Best for one stage with a large audience. Viewers see a clean player with your branding rather than Vimeo's. You stream to Vimeo from your own encoder.

YouTube

Broadcast

Best when your team already streams on YouTube and you want to keep that workflow. You stream from YouTube and we show it in your hero.

The YouTube link

Zoom

Webinar

Best for sessions with speakers who join from their own computers. Zoom brings its own tools into the page. Ask us which ones your webinar has available.

Send us
Webinar ID, passcode and the invite link

Test before the day. Send us your link or webinar details early. We add them to the hero, then you can run a test stream and check how it looks on the page. Questions about the best streaming setup go to [email protected].

Clips and playlists

The on-demand library is made of clips. A clip is one item attendees can open, and a playlist is a group of clips you can reuse. Hover over a number to see which part of the library it marks.

  • AudioAn audio file, with its running time
  • PDFSlides, handouts or guides
  • ImageA poster, a map or a diagram

Playlists

A playlist is a group of clips in an order you choose. Use one to show the same clips in more than one place. When we add a clip to the playlist, every row that uses it is updated, so no page needs editing.

  • DescriptionsA short one for the card and, if you like, longer text and a button label and link for under the player
