Event pages

Event pages: what they're made of and what you can ask for

Every room of your event, such as the lobby or the main stage, is an event page. Jumbo calls it a channel. Each one is built from a few parts, and you choose what goes in them. This guide shows the parts and the options, so your team can plan the content and send it to us. To click through a live example, open demo.jumbo.live.

Anatomy of an event page

A page can have three parts: a menu across the top, a hero with the video and a stack of content blocks below. Hover over a number to see what it marks.

  1. MenuLinks to your pages, other sites and blocks further down the page. A dropdown can list your rooms. It's the same on every page
  2. HeroThe top of the page: a background image or loop, a frosted panel with your wording and the video. It changes as the event goes from upcoming to live to archived
  3. Watch buttonA label such as Watch now, a title and a place to send people. See Buttons for where it can lead
  4. Schedule blockSessions with times, speakers and tags, as a row per room
  5. Speakers blockPicture tiles with names, each one linking to a bio or profile
  6. Clips blockReplays, documents and links in a scrolling row or a grid

Blocks are yours to arrange. A page can hold as many blocks as it needs, in any order, and blocks 4 to 6 are only three of the choices. The full list is under Content blocks. Logos, backgrounds and sizes are in Design and branding.

The hero changes with the event

We build the hero three times, once for each stage of the event, and switch between them as the event moves along. Each one has its own wording, background and button.

  1. Before the event

    Upcoming

What people see after registering and until you go live. Use it for a welcome, the date, a countdown or reading to do ahead of time. The watch button can lead to a welcome clip or any page.

Send us the wording, a background and where the button should lead

  2. During the event

    Live

The video area and a Live badge for while your event is on. A frosted panel with your words can show until someone presses play.

Send us the session title and the wording for the panel

  3. After, or between sessions

    Archived

A thank you and a way to watch replays. People keep coming back to this page, so it also keeps counting on-demand views. The watch button can open a replay or the on-demand library.

Send us the wording and the replay to feature

We switch the page from one stage to the next on event day. Tell us when, and we can have all three ready beforehand. The hero background can be an image or a loop. A frosted panel, called plastic wrap, softens the background so the text on it stays readable.

Kinds of pages

Pages differ in what they're for, and each uses only the parts it needs. The simplest event is one room, a main stage and nothing else. Add the others when your event needs them.

  1. Lobby

Optional. Where people land after registering, before you go live. Use it when you don't want to show main stage content too early. If you don't mind, the main stage's Upcoming hero does the same job.

Send us a welcome message, the date and time and a background image or loop

  2. Main stage

Home to most of your live and recorded content. For a one-room event, it may be your only page.

Send us the session wording and the blocks you want below the video

  3. Breakout

A room apart from the main stage. A good place to send people between sessions, or to host a smaller session.

Send us room names and what each one is for

  4. Sponsor booth

A page of its own for one sponsor, so they can show their story, a video and ways to get in touch. More in Sponsors and speakers.

Send us each sponsor's logo, a short description, a video or link and a contact

  5. On-demand library

Past sessions you choose to post, so registered attendees can watch after the event.

Send us replays or links, titles, thumbnails and how to group them

  6. Simple page

A plain page for things like an FAQ, a code of conduct or a help page. Text, pictures and buttons, without video.

Send us the wording and any images

  7. Pop-up

A simple page that opens over the page someone is on, such as a speaker bio, rules or a short form to collect details. A button or link opens it.

Send us the wording and tell us which button opens it

Moving between rooms. The menu can include a dropdown that lists your rooms, and any button can send people to another page. We set up the navigation with you.

Content blocks

Content blocks are the sections below the hero. Each block has a type, and you can mix them in any order. Here is every type, with a sketch of how it looks, what it's for and what we need from you.

About

Says what this page or the whole event is about.

Send us
A short description and, if you like, a picture

Schedule

Your agenda, with times, rooms, speakers and tags. Options are in The schedule below.

Send us
A list of sessions with times, speakers and descriptions

Speakers or spotlight

A row of spotlight tiles, each a picture that links somewhere. Most often used for speaker bios, and just as good for featured sessions or partners.

Send us
Names, photos, titles and a short bio for each person

Clips

Replays, documents and links. Show them as a scrolling row, a grid or one featured clip, either hand-picked or as a whole playlist.

Send us
Files or links, with a title and thumbnail for each

List

A tidy set of items, with or without pictures, links and buttons. Good for resources, floor guides or FAQs. Items can sit in rounded boxes.

Send us
The items as text, with an image and link for each if you have them

Freeform text

Anything that doesn't fit another block: a welcome, directions, rules, a note from the host. It can hold pictures and buttons, and the text can greet people by name.

Send us
The wording, any images and the buttons you want

Image map

One picture, such as a floor plan or an illustrated venue, with clickable spots. Each spot can open a page, a clip or a room. The spots can show as dots or numbers, or stay hidden.

Send us
The picture and what each spot should open

Sponsors

A wall of sponsor logos, each linking to the sponsor's site or booth.

Send us
Each logo, the web address it links to and the order you want

Contact

Lets attendees reach your team. It holds a message, buttons for help or email, and a contact's name, photo, phone number and email address.

Send us
The contact's name, photo, email and phone, plus a short message

Header

A heading that splits the page into parts, such as Day one or Partners. Pair it with a menu link so people can jump straight to it.

Send us
The heading wording

Options on every block

What you can ask for

  • A normal or large headingLarge headings can have their own background color, text color and picture
  • A menu linkThe block appears in the top menu under a name you pick, and the link jumps down the page to it
  • Hidden from some groupsShow a block only to the segments you choose, such as speakers or one ticket type

Who sees what, for example

  • People in the speakers segmentA block with run-of-show and tech check times
  • VIP ticket holdersA block with dinner details
  • Everyone elseThe schedule, clips and sponsors

Tell us your groups early. Segments come from registration answers and ticket types, so it helps to know who needs to see something different while we build the form. We can limit a whole page to some segments in the same way.

Greet people by name. Freeform text can include a person's name or another registration answer, with a fallback word like friend when we don't have one. Tell us where you'd like it.

Buttons

Buttons sit in freeform text, list and contact blocks. The hero's watch button works the same way. There are three sizes and a wide spotlight tile, and it looks best when a group of buttons share one size.

Small

A compact pill with a label and an icon. For quick actions, such as adding to a calendar or opening a link.

Send us
The label and an icon, or let us choose one

Medium

A label with a small picture beside it. For a short row of destinations people should recognize at a glance.

Send us
The label and a square image

Large

A tile with a headline and a label, and room for an icon and a background picture. For the main things you want people to do.

Send us
A headline, a label and a background image or icon

Spotlight tile

A wide tile with a picture, a short description and a label. For a session, a speaker or a sponsor you want to stand out. Its label and icon can change after someone clicks it.

Send us
A picture, a label and one or two lines of description

Where a button can lead

  • A web pageAny address, on your own site or somewhere else
  • A clipA replay, document or link from your clip library
  • Another pageA room such as the main stage, or a spot partway down it
  • A pop-upA simple page over the current one, such as a bio, rules or an FAQ
  • An email to someoneSends a message from one of your email templates, to the person who clicked or to a group you name

When you send us a button, tell us which of these it should do and where.

The schedule

The schedule block shows what's on and when. People click a session to read more. You choose how it looks, and every viewer can switch between layouts themselves.

9:0010:0011:0012:00 Main stageRoom ARoom B

TV-guide view: each block is as wide as the session is long, and the left edge shows its tag color

How it can look

Layout choices

  • Horizontal or stackedWhich one people see first. Either way, they can switch to the other
  • Carousel or TV guideIn horizontal view, a carousel gives each room its own scrolling row. A TV guide lines sessions up against a time axis
  • One day or manyFor a multi-day event, show one day at a time with a day picker, or every day together
  • Where the details openIn a full-screen pop-up, or in a panel just below the schedule

What each session needs

  • A title and a start and end timeThe times set the position and width in the TV guide
  • A pictureOptional, in the same size as your other session images
  • SpeakersLinked to their profiles, so a click opens their bio. Each speaker needs a profile first
  • A description and tagsThe full details people read when they open the session

Tags

Tags group sessions by topic or type, and each one has a name and a color. Pick names people will recognize and send us the colors, as hex codes if you have them.

Speakers need a profile. If a speaker hasn't registered, they can sign up like any attendee, or we can add them for you. Send us their names and emails and we link them to their sessions. More in Sponsors and speakers.

What to send us

A plain document or spreadsheet is enough. We take it from there and send screenshots for your review before anything goes live.

For each page

  • Its kind and its nameLobby, main stage, breakout and so on, with the wording for its menu link
  • Hero wording and buttonA title, two or three sentences, a button label and where it leads, for each stage you need
  • A backgroundAn image or loop. See Design and branding
  • Blocks in orderA simple list is fine, such as schedule, speakers, clips and sponsors
  • Who sees whatWhich groups should see or miss each block

For the whole event

  • SessionsA spreadsheet with title, start and end time, room, speakers, description, tag and image
  • SpeakersName, email, photo and bio for each one
  • Replays and documentsFiles or links, with titles
  • Calendar detailsA one-line description and a location or link for calendar invites. These don't show on the page
